niche is a creative nest

Everyone deserves to have a niche - a true refuge, a place that brings out the best in us, uplifts and restores us in body, mind and spirit, a sacred space to hold meaning and memory, a place where we can feel connected to the wider web of life with a sense of harmony.

This is your invitation to come home to the beauty and wisdom of our wild world, and to realize your niche.

With clear intention and imagination, we can weave depth and meaning into the landscapes we live in, and into the most sacred moments of our lives.

Niche is a full-service landscape architecture firm selectively focused on the design of residential landscapes, habitat gardens, culinary gardens, therapeutic + memorial landscapes, and educational/interpretive features.

Niche offers custom land art for both the private and public realm to honor and celebrate life, inspire reverence, remembrance, and to bring the stories of a place to life.

Niche also offers both wholesale and custom textiles to help bring meaning, beauty and peace to the seasons and threshold of life

about Jessica

Jessica is the primary nest weaver of Niche. Guided by affection for the wild world, Jessica harnesses the ancient “languages” of our Earth to help express and honor the depths of the human experience.

Jessica is an artist, writer and licensed landscape architect with sixteen years of diverse experience. She holds professional licensure in California, British Columbia and the Great Lakes. Jessica loves to design landscapes that help people feel truly at home in the world. She believes in the mutual flourishing of people and place, and that our human well-being is linked to the vitality of the landscapes we live in and vice-versa.

With cross-training as a hospice volunteer and Threshold Choir singer, Jessica is attuned to the “mortality mindset” and has learned how to encourage people to face change and impermanence with beauty as an ally. She takes joy in creating artwork and designing landscapes that nurture, soothe and enliven the human spirit, that help people navigate thresholds and seasons of life.

Jessica embraces a variety of artistic mediums, including photography and textile arts (katazome, natural dyeing, eco-printing), simple wood sculpture. Most of what Jessica creates reflects her love of the plant kingdom, whether through botanical imagery or the deliberate embrace of wood in various stages of transformation.
